Just a quick post today to share a new portrait done yesterday using a new technique I learned in Misty Mawn's Face to Face class. I was a little nervous starting it, not knowing if I could make it work. At first I wondered if all the little marks would ever come together in a coherent portrait, but eventually it started working! It was like magic! It was so tempting to me to take my finger and blend, as that is my usual style, but that wasn't the assignment. I'm so glad I didn't!!! I used a reference photo but the final face doesn't really look like the original - it just served to get me started.
So, here it is:
This face will serve as my 2nd face in my 29 Faces challenge too. I had so much fun doing this one! I definitely want to use this method again! What do you think?
Oh.. and I did touch up the last pastel portrait too - the hair was bothering me on that one and the nose, so here is the final photo:
Next I want to try a sgraffito technique.. but that's for another post. Until next time...

I always think of the first techniques as almost looking like they're fiber art! I like the energy it gives, and a sense of movement. Nice job!
