New Directions

I have been seriously thinking about what I can do with this blog to make it more interesting and vital, so that my readers are excited to keep up with the postings, and I am inspired to keep updating it on a regular basis, instead of once in a blue moon, like I have been.  Lately, I have given some thought as to whether I even keep this blog.  I really don't want this to be a place where I just post my art and that's it.  I already do that on Facebook and sometimes on Twitter.  I really enjoy the groups I participate in on Facebook with other artists and the chatter back and forth with those I call my friends there.  It is fulfilling a need in me in that respect.  I don't need this blog to do that.

So I thought some more, and remembered what some of the blogs I have enjoyed visiting were like.  The ones that really were interesting to me were ones which have given me some insight into the artists' life and experiences - what challenges they have faced, what triumphs they experienced, how they have felt about their creativity, what has inspired them what they struggled with.  Honesty and openness pull me in, make me want to know more.

That's what I desire for myself.  Honesty and free expression are what is driving me now in my art.  The connection to Spirit, that link to my inner creativity is what I crave and what I seek when I sit down in my studio to make some art.  I truly want this space to reflect that connection and openness.  To be able to express what's in my heart and share it here as it relates to who I am as a person AND as an artist is something I need to express in words as well as in images.

That's where I am at the moment.  I am motivated now to change the scope of this blog from this point forward.  I want to change the look of this space too, so there will most likely be changes coming.  Maybe not all at once, but little by little.  There are so many changes going on in my life right now - it must reflect here also.  I am becoming excited about some possibilities I want to explore and share here now.

So I will share a painting I made while I was doing a life-changing Intuitive Painting with Guidance from the Spirit Realms workshop with Chris Zydel  and Pixie Campbell in Chris's Creative Juices Arts studio.  It has been the start of a new trend for my painting and it has continued with Pixie's Visual Quest online workshop.  I am so excited with this new direction for me.  It is bold, intuitive, expressive, and guided by spirit.  Here is one of the paintings I came home with from the first workshop:

I will leave you here now with the promise of sharing some of what I learned in the Visual Quest workshop about intuitive, shamanic painting.  Exciting stuff!  It will be the very next post I make in a day or 2, and also at that time will tell you about a new class I will be teaching along with some other amazing instructors!  I will have a free spot in the class to give away too.  It starts soon, so I will be sharing this very soon. That's a promise.

Thanks for being here and visiting with me.

Much love - Arlene
